![]() ![]() If you like his sound, go ahead and work towards it. ![]() I can understand trying to get as close to his sound as you can (because it ing rocked), but to spend 10-15 times the money he did to do it? He came up with other patterns and designs. None of them are like the Frankenstrat or the 5150. Take a look at those guitars he painted himself. I doubt Ed really cared about where his stripes were or if they were half a milimetre off from where they were on another guitar. ![]() One thing I don't get is how so many people, when building Frankenstrat replicas (or 5150 replicas, but moreso with the frankenstrat), is how they spend thousands of dollars to buy the right parts, and hours upon hours of work to get every stripe in the EXACT spot, and even more to replicate every wear mark precicely, all to replicate a guitar that was originally put together for less than $200 and was probably painted in a "Hey, lets see how this looks" kind of haphazard way. ![]()
